Development and Testing

Magdy Hanna, Ph.D.
Magdy Hanna, Ph.D.

The quality of your release is only as good as the quality of requirements and the quality of your test design. No matter how highly skilled your developers are, poor requirements will always lead to poor test design, which will only put out bad releases. This presentation will provide an overview of the scenario-based development and testing process that is based on the use of models. This process has proven to reduce the number of defects found by the test team as well as the end user.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The problem with traditional development test lifecycle
  • The Scenario-Based development and testing process
  • Scenario Development from vague requirements statements
  • Model-Based scenario requirements
  • Use Case scenarios
  • Decision Table scenarios
  • State Transition scenarios

In The News...

Top 10 Trends in Project Management for 2012

"As the project environment grows in complexity, project management will require team, stakeholder, and executive collaboration in 2012 like never before."

What's the Value of Project Management?

"My view is simple, if we continuously ask ourselves these four questions, and use them as a guide to the important work that is asked of us, I bet our clients, our team members, and our executive sponsors, will never question the value of project management, or the value we bring individually as project managers."

Taking Control of Development

"We, as learners, now control a great deal of learning and mentoring opportunities with the technology and social networking options that we have at our fingertips. The article discusses the fact that with great globalization comes more needs for people to work virtually with one another across various countries and time zones. The author highlighted how many of us are now using Linkedin to connect with others in our industries to learn from one another every day."

Workaholism: Find Balance in a 24/7 World

"Working long hours and always being available is just part of being a project manager, right? Wrong."

The Accidental Project Manager

"Many practitioners fall into the role of project manager unintentionally or by coincidence. Those who are thrust into it must act quickly to develop the necessary skills, including how to identify and communicate with sponsors and stakeholders. Learning from your peers is the way to go."

Toastmaster workshops focus on speeches, leadership

"Toastmasters International, founded in 1924, boasts more than 270,000 members in 13,000 clubs in 116 countries. The clubs provide leadership skills, networking opportunities and a blueprint for efficient meetings. If you’ve ever been held captive in a poorly run meeting, you’ll appreciate the Toastmasters blueprint."

Prepare to Ace Your Job Interview with This Interview One-Sheeter

"As you know, preparation is the key to doing well on a job interview and hirers tend to ask the same kinds of questions. This job interview one-sheeter is like a CliffsNotes for getting your strategic answers together."

In Presentations, Learn to Say Less

"Imagine that you had 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes at the next executive staff meeting to get your message across. Would you be able to focus your energy on the most compelling way to convey your most important thought? "

A Disciplined Approach to Evaluating Ideas

"Make sure you ask the right questions at the right time." That's one memorable piece of advice from a leader at a global innovation powerhouse. Unfortunately, it is a piece of advice that is heeded too infrequently inside large companies.

Nine Things Successful People Do Differently

"Decades of research on achievement suggests people at the top of their game tend to reach their goals because of what they do--not because of who they are. In this short, provocative, and useful HBR Single, motivational psychologist Heidi Grant Halvorson translates the psychological secrets of these winning human beings for your use. Halvorson expands on her immensely popular blog post to give more detail on each of her nine suggested actions--from getting specific about goals and aggressively monitoring your achievements to understanding the importance of having "grit." By emphasizing what successful people do consistently and effectively, Halvorson provides the path to help you accomplish your goals, once and for all.
