Tammo Wilkens - FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! Never Miss a Project Completion Date Again
Presentation Abstract
A constant concern of project stakeholders is whether the project will be finished on time and what is the risk of missing that date. Monte Carlo simulation is often used to provide a more "scientific" basis for quantifying that risk. The author has generally shied away from using such "rocket science" methods and rather focused on removing any risk of missing the completion date, and he has been successful in delivering his projects on time. This presentation will illustrate the secret to this risk management of timely completion and hopefully inspire project managers and project teams to bring their projects in on time. The presentation will be brought to life with real life examples of schedule crises.
Speaker Bio
Tammo T. Wilkens, MBA, P.E., PMP, CSM has 46 years of experience, including 31 years of experience in project management. He has managed various projects in software development, engineering and construction industries, for both contractors and owners and both in the private and public sectors. He has lectured and presented papers in multiple areas of project management and is a recognized subject matter expert in planning & scheduling and earned value management. His experience includes professional development and mentoring of employees, training students in scheduling software systems, as well as developing and delivering PMP exam preparation courses. Tammo currently teaches the Certificate in Project Management” and “Microsoft Project 2019 Scheduling” courses at Cal State Dominguez Hills. He is the author of the MS Project Training Manual.

His leadership roles have ranged from positions in healthcare data technology firms to those in large multi-entity healthcare systems. His experience in hospital IT operations and management gives him insight into the challenges faced by healthcare IT leaders in today’s dynamic environment. Joe cultivates strong relationships and seeks to translate organizational goals, strategy, and needs into service solutions that align with the organization’s values and vision.

Professor Kevin Reilly is an Independent Contractor and Primary Instructor for the 'Project Management Certification Coach,' offering PMI Exam Prep training and coaching. He has 12+ years of experience teaching CAPM, PMP, PMI-ACP exam prep courses, and General Waterfall & Agile courses (non-certification). He has taught and coached over one thousand students to pass these exams. Kevin has also successfully delivered many Software Development and I.T. projects and has 15+ years’ experience as a Waterfall Project Manager and Agile Scrum Master.
Kevin is a firm believer in volunteerism as a way of paying it forward, improving his skills, and transferring knowledge to others. Kevin is currently the Speakers Bureau Director and Annual Conference Speaker Captain for the PMI San Diego Chapter, a PMP Exam Prep Instructor for the PMI-OC chapter, and a keynote & special event speaker for several PMI chapters across the U.S. and around the globe.
